JAMB CRACKS DOWN ON RESULT FRAUD, ARRESTS CANDIDATES, PARENT OVER UTME MANIPULATION

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has arrested two candidates and a parent over alleged manipulation and falsification of UTME results. According to the Board, the suspects were apprehended for attempting to alter SMS-based result notifications obtained through JAMB’s official short codes 55019 and 66019, with the intent to deceive parents, guardians, and the general public.

JAMB strongly warned candidates against tampering with or fabricating examination results, describing such acts as a serious criminal offence that will attract strict legal consequences. The Board further noted that the use of artificial intelligence and other electronic tools to manipulate results is also under investigation.

The agency reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, stressing that all individuals found culpable will face prosecution.

Meanwhile, JAMB confirmed that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is still ongoing nationwide, with results being released gradually in batches as processing continues.

Authorities have urged candidates to rely only on official channels for result verification and avoid any form of fraud or misinformation.
