JAMB COMMENCES REGISTRATION FOR NCE AND NON-TECHNOLOGICAL AGRICULTURAL PROGRAMMES

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the commencement of registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes in Polytechnics across the country.

The announcement was made through a press release issued on 23rd July, 2026, from the Office of the Registrar, JAMB. The Board disclosed that the registration exercise is in line with the Federal Government’s policy aimed at expanding access to tertiary education while maintaining quality and academic standards.

This development provides another opportunity for qualified candidates who wish to pursue careers in education and agriculture without the requirement of sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Registration Now Open

According to JAMB, interested candidates can now visit any designated Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) located within Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) nationwide to complete their registration.

Applicants are expected to possess the required O’Level credits for their chosen programme before proceeding with the registration exercise.

The Board emphasized that registration is currently ongoing and encouraged eligible candidates to take advantage of the opportunity without delay.

No UTME Required

One of the major highlights of the announcement is the continued implementation of the Federal Government’s policy that waives the requirement for candidates seeking admission into NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This means that eligible candidates who meet the admission requirements can gain admission into these programmes without participating in the annual UTME.

JAMB explained that although the UTME requirement has been removed, a comprehensive admission process has been developed to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted into these institutions.

According to the Board, the policy is designed to preserve the integrity and quality of these academic programmes while making tertiary education more accessible to Nigerians.
